Final Blog Assignment

Please write a short narrative, telling your story. I asked you to do this on your surveys, so if you like you can use the same story.

Give some information about your background, for example, what you did before coming to ATU, how you feel about your experience at ATU, and what you would like to do in the future.

In other words, express yourself! With your permission, I will use some of your stories for future MED students and will share them with other teachers so that we can learn from you.

Some notes on your blogs

Most of you are doing very well with your posts and comments. However, I noticed a few things that need to be addressed:

1. Please be sure that you post your responses as a NEW POST, not as Comments.

2. Please be sure to visit the blogs of Everyone In Your Group. This means that each of you should have a minimum of three comments on your blogs.

3. A couple of you have not posted a response or commented on other blogs. Tony and Jean, that means you!

The idea here is to get a dialogue going between everyone in your groups, so please respond more to the comments you see. Also, when you comment, don't just say two or three words (i.e. "I agree." or "Very good."). Instead, try to raise some new questions and say why you agree or disagree.

Assignment for Contemporary Topics Unit 1 Slang: Talking Cool

Click on this link and read the article:

"Why People Use Slang"
(You'll have to scroll down until you see the title)

After you've read it, post the following to your blog:

1. A brief summary
2. What you agree with
3. What you disagree with
4. Questions that you have about the reading

Be sure to include personal examples in your responses (ex: When I was a teenager, we used slang to see if other people were "cool" enough to hang out with our group).

Also, you will need to visit your group members' blogs and respond to their posts using the Comments function.

If you have any questions, leave comments on this board and I will respond to them on your blog.

Read This First!

Hello! The purpose of this blog is so my students can come and check their assignments and ask questions to myself or other students. You will be required to create your own blog.

You will need to create an account first. To do so, go here:

http://www.blogger.com/signup.g

and fill out the form. Then when you post comments your name will be displayed.

Each week, you will need to update your blog. We'll talk about ideas in class, and you can come to this site if you're not sure what to do. You will be responsible for visiting your group members' blogs and posting comments on them.

Please visit the links if you have time, and if you have any suggestions on how to make the site run better, please let me know!

Thanks,

Josh
